Xiaofang Kiln Master Cai Xiaofang's Ru Kiln Plum Blossom Pair of Tea Cups

Design: The cup's rim and body, viewed from above, present a gentle five-petaled plum blossom shape with restrained lines. Instead, the lines are rounded and possess a rhythmic quality. The cup is relatively short with a stable base, allowing the fingertips to naturally conform to the slight concave curve of the plum blossom petals when held, providing an extremely comfortable grip.

Glaze: The Ru ware plum blossom cup embodies the highest spiritual realm of "profound mystery, enigmatic beauty, and the clear blue sky after rain" pursued by the Northern Song Dynasty. Along the undulating lines of the five petals, due to the natural flow of glaze during high-temperature firing, the thin glaze layer subtly reveals the pale purplish-brown of the body (the so-called "purple mouth"), making the five petals appear more three-dimensional and rustic.
