Yixing Factory 1 | Veteran Master Chu Jingping
1980s Vintage Green Clay "He Wan" Zisha Teapot (Engraved Palindromic Poem)
Vessel Curation / Yixing Factory 1 Vintage Zisha TeapotJiangsu, China・Yixing Purple Clay Craft Factory 1
Curatorial Notes
A transcendent collector's piece from the golden era of Factory 1, uniting fine zisha craftsmanship with classical Chinese literati poetry. Handcrafted in the 1980s by veteran artisan Chu Jingping, this classic "He Wan" (Joint Bowls) teapot is sculpted from rare original ore green clay (luni), yielding a muted, serene grayish-green tone. The body is delicately carved with a five-character palindromic poem that reads harmoniously both forwards and backwards, evoking snow-clad peaks, evening mist, and serene moonlight. Matured over decades, the clay develops a lustrous, silky patina upon daily tea nourishing.
Vessel Form & Tea Space Aesthetics
Palindromic Inscription & Literati Spirit: The engraved poem weaves an ethereal landscape around the vessel's waistline. Reading forward or in reverse, it deepens the contemplation of tea practice, bridging Chinese poetic tradition with authentic vintage purple clay art.
Rare Green Clay & Aromatic Brilliance: Pure 1980s Factory 1 green clay provides natural porosity and gentle heat retention, perfectly suited to highlighting the ethereal floral aromas of Taiwanese high mountain oolongs and aged teas.
Harmonious Double-Bowl Architecture: Inspired by two joined ritual bowls, the balanced waistline and ergonomic curve rest naturally in hand, accompanied by a precise, fluid pour.
