Antique Yixing Zisha | Late Qing to Republic Era

Export to Thailand Water-Polished Zisha Overhead-Handle Teapot with Brass Mounts ("Long Yin Fu Ji" Dragon Mark)

Vessel Curation / Siamese Royal & Noble Export Yixing Antique
Yixing, China・Late Qing to Republic Era (Dragon Mark Fu Ji)

Curatorial Notes

A mirror-like luster crafted across cultures and centuries. Custom-made during the late Qing to early Republic era for Siamese (Thai) royalty and nobility, this exceptional "Water-Polished Zisha Overhead-Handle Teapot" bears the authentic square "Long Yin Fu Ji" (Dragon Mark of Fu Ji) stamped upon its base.

Handcrafted from aged purple clay, the body was finished using the traditional Siamese water-polishing technique, creating a reflective, silky jade-like sheen. The finial, rim, lip, and spout tip are protected with finely fitted patinated brass mounts, secured with a shaped brass overhead handle and floral rivets. It stands as an iconic historical treasure of late imperial export ceramics.

Form & Spatial Aesthetics

  • Siamese Water Polishing: Hand-polished with water and abrasives after firing, the smooth surface reveals natural mineral flecks beneath a soft, mirror-like antique patina.

  • Brass Mounts & Overhead Handle: Fitted brass rims guard against wear while radiating royal dignity; the arched metal handle provides balanced handling for this large vessel.

  • Grand Capacity & Fu Ji Seal: Measuring 11 cm in diameter, 15.5 cm in total height, and 8.5 cm in handle rise, the generous 950 C.C. capacity makes a commanding tea centerpiece; the stamped "Long Yin Fu Ji" mark on the base confirms its esteemed export provenance.
