Object Profile

Warm, lustrous, and reminiscent of polished ivory jade. Drawing from the classical heritage of Ding and Dehua wares, Master Tsai Hsiao-fang developed this signature Ivory White glaze to evoke an antique, soothing warmth. With its semi-translucent, jade-like depth, the glaze naturally thickens and recedes across the sculpted relief, creating nuanced, velvety layers of milky white under shifting light. Its pure neutrality faithfully reflects the true color and subtle gradations of the tea liquor.

Form & Tea Aesthetics

• Hand-Sculpted Appliqué & Organic Vitality: Rather than relying on simple molds, the vessel is first hand-thrown, after which the master sculpts the rugged branches, tender buds, and five-petaled blossoms by hand. Each element is individually applied using fine porcelain slip and meticulously carved onto the body, achieving lively movement and resilient literati grace.

• Gnarled Branch Finial & Openwork Touch: The lid finial is crafted in the likeness of a twisted plum branch, featuring delicate hand-carved reticulation. Touching and lifting the lid offers a tactile journey across the gnarled bark textures and smooth glaze.

• Seamless Natural Flow: The organic lines flow gracefully across the vessel. When paired with the matching relief tasting cups (where branches extend downward to form a self-supporting base), the set establishes an immersive, poetic landscape upon the tea table.
